A NOTE FROM HOLLY MCCALL
To the Roaring Brook Community,
Over the last 3 years that we have lived in Chappaqua and had a child attending Roaring Brook School, I’ve been continuously impressed with the warmth, passion for education and dedication to the children demonstrated by everyone associated with the school.
During the last years, we’ve seen many changes. We welcomed Mrs. Jaynes and Mrs. Porcelli, new students and teachers. We will miss Mrs. Porcelli when her time as Interim Principal ends. But as always, we approached the search for the new Principal with excitement and engagement and are excited to welcome Mrs. O’Leary to our community this summer.
I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished during the last 9+ months. We continue to be strong fundraisers, which has enabled our continued commitment and support of programs like Cultural Enrichment, Kindergarten Bookpack, Environmental and Garden programs and Kindergarten Playcubs to welcome the newest members of the RB Community. Our community readily gives when our Seasons of Giving come with requests and enables us to not only better the Roaring Brook Community, but the community that surrounds us.
We found a new hit Family Event with Trunk of Treat and we’ve been able to make gifts to the school which will enhance the experience of every member of the Roaring Brook Community. We are funding both a renovation of the butterfly garden pathway as well as an Audio Visual system for use in the cafeteria.
It’s has been my pleasure and honor to serve as Vice Chair and Chair of the Roaring Brook PTA over the past two years. While I’m looking forward to having both of my children at the same school again next year and beginning my next adventure on the Board of Education, I will sincerely miss being at Roaring Brook School and serving as your PTA Chair.
I know I leave you in good hands with Stephanie and Nicole. But please keep inviting me to the BBQs and picnics!!
A Note About Health Forms
Starting July 2018, New York State Education Department has changed the grades for which it is mandatory to submit a health appraisal for your child. Health Appraisals/ physicals will be required for all new entrants as always. The following grades are now mandated to provide physicals as of July 2018 and thereafter:
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL : Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade
MIDDLE SCHOOL: 5th grade, 7th grade
HIGH SCHOOL: 9th grade and 11th grade
Let's Talk About Lice...
We encourage you to check your children's hair regularly and thoroughly. The best way to prevent the spread of lice is to get into the habit of checking often and then treating if evidence of live lice or nits (eggs) are found.
Information and recommended treatment protocol can be found on your school nurse's web site or by following this link.
INTRODUCING...The RBS Volunteer Corps
Have an interest in volunteering at RBS but not sure where to begin? Does your work schedule prohibit you from making a commitment? Have a little one at home and can't get into school? The new RBS Volunteer Corps makes it easy to help out at school, whether its 10 hours a week or 10 minutes a year!
We depend on the skills and participation of parents to help our programs and school run smoothly. Please take this brief survey to let us know your interests and availability. Starting in the Fall, we will post an ongoing signup where you can see, day by day, how you can help!

Join the PTA
All six Chappaqua school PTAs are part of the Chappaqua PTA, an umbrella organization that provides important, enriching programming for students and parents, and provides vital communication tools (including the webpage you're reading right now) to its members. Please join this year!
The PTA is an all-volunteer organization. We can always use more volunteers. If you have 10 minutes a week or 10 hours a week, we have an opportunity for you! To learn more about the Roaring Brook PTA or discover volunteer opportunities, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dues are $15 per family ($7.50 for single parent households) and one payment includes all of your children enrolled in all Chappaqua schools. Chappaqua PTA membership dues are separate from Roaring Book Class Fees/Dues (which are not PTA fees; these fees are used by classroom teachers for classroom specific supplies and activities). Families must be members of the Chappaqua PTA to participate in certain PTA programs such as After School Enrichment and Theater. Click on SHOP in the navigation bar above to read more about dues and pay them online. You can also pay by check HERE.
